LEGENDS OF THE COMMONWEATH GAMES
No.1 - Steve Frew, Gymnast.
Steve Frew didn’t just create headlines at the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester. He created history with a captivating performance in the men’s rings to become Scotland’s first ever Gymnastics Commonwealth Games Gold Medalist. But what made victory even sweeter for Steve was that he had triumphed against the odds, having overcome a career-threatening injury, which kept him out of the sport for a year. What’s more, he’d been turned down for funding and could only afford to train part-time. Nevertheless, Steve succeeded in delivering a routine that astounded the watching crowd and swayed the judges. This graphic representation captures him ‘in the moment’ and demonstrates the character, focus, and strength of will required to be a true champion.
The signed edition was presented to Longines at their Oxford Circus boutique on the 4th May 2018 by Steve and James in person and then continued it's journey to the CEO Walter von Känel in Switzerland.
This signed print is one of a limited edition of 100. It’s recorded on Hahnemühle stock via a large format mimeograph and generally referred to as Giclée prints of premium quality. The paper is white 100% a-cellulose with a distinct textured surface and the premium matt inkjet coating more than meets the highest industry standards vis-à-vis density, colour gamut, colour graduation and image sharpness, while preserving the extraordinary touch and feel of genuine art paper.
