HEATHFIELD AND DISTRICT AGRICULTURAL SHOW

The parish church of All Saints, beautifully portrayed here by James, sits in the charming village of Old Heathfield in the heart of the gorgeous Sussex countryside. Built in 1348 (the year of the terrible Black Death) the church has many lovely stained glass windows, but one of special interest commemorates the foundation of the first settlement at Jamestown in Virginia in 1607.

The Reverend Robert Hunt, the then vicar, was appointed chaplain and accompanied the earliest fleet of pilgrims to the New World.

To the rear of All Saints is the Star Inn, originally constructed to serve the stonemasons working on the church, and which has played a central part in the lives of the inhabitants of the village and its surrounding area for centuries since.
