Arran Approach

The linocut edition captures the breathtaking approach to the Isle of Arran from the sea, showcasing the magnificent trio of mountains: Beinn a’ Chliabhain, A’Chir, and Cir Mhor. The art exudes a sense of serenity and grandeur, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in the rugged beauty of this Scottish island.

The foreground features the rolling waves of the sea, depicted with fine, delicate lines rolling onto shore. As the viewer’s gaze travels upwards from the sea, the print reveals the approaching shoreline of Arran. The coastline is depicted with bold, clean lines to emphasise its rugged nature. The centre piece of this edition is the triumvirate of majestic mountains that dominate the Arran landscape. Each mountain is suggestively lined by the detailed cut and captures its unique character. The leftmost mountain, Beinn a’ Chliabhain, stands proudly with its distinctive conical shape. In the center, A’Chir’s silhouette brings out the start of mountain’s and initial gentle then steep slope, portraying its formidable presence leading to Cir Mhor.

Predominantly a monochromatic palette of rich, deep black against stark white. The contrast between light and shadow adds drama and depth to the landscape. This edition print recorded on Hahnemühle stock via a large format mimeograph and generally referred to as Giclée prints of premium quality. The paper is white 100% a-cellulose with a distinct textured surface and the premium matt inkjet coating more than meets the highest industry standards vis-à-vis density, colour gamut, colour graduation and image sharpness, while preserving the extraordinary touch and feel of genuine art paper.
