Lancia Fulvia

This was originally a private commission for the owner of a classic Lancia Fulvia. The car’s location – a barn in Sussex – gave James high hopes of discovering a hidden gem. And he wasn’t to be disappointed, because underneath its protective tarpaulin cover there shone a full nuts and bolts restored Fulvia in tip-top condition. James was given carte blanche to portray the vehicle in any way he chose. So, taking time to consider the owner’s keen eye for detail, architecture, the arts and the finer things in life, James envisioned the Fulvia in front of the Bibendum, or Michelin Building as it’s known, on the Fulham Road in London. If you look carefully, you’ll see the picture is festooned with visual clues associated with the famous tyre manufacturer. And if you’re wondering why Apolonia is there, well, as James himself admits: “Why have the full nuts and bolts, beautifully restored Fulvia without the accompanying Italian mechanic?” Oh, and one more thing. The slogan reads ‘elegance also in movement’ which one would also assume to mean ‘beauty when stationery.’

The print was also featured in OCTANE magazine edition 210.
