What a Bute

The Isle of Bute has three golf courses: Bute with its 9 holes and views of Arran, Port Bannatyne with 13 holes, and the 18-hole course at Rothesay.

James captured this image close to the 12th green one evening whilst playing Rothesay, with the sun setting in the distance and colouring the surroundings with warm hues. The course sits high on the hills of Bute and offers uninterrupted views north to Loch Striven and down into Rothesay Bay where the Cal Mac ferry can be seen shuttling cars and passengers to and from the mainland. A lucky glance over the shoulder on the walk to the next tee made for a memorable impression of the landscape with its imposing trees and silhouette of hills in the background.
